What each location label represents
PlainClimate location labels originate with primary NOAA climate stations, so they are not all municipalities. The crosswalk tests every label against the official 2024 Census Gazetteer Places file using a conservative exact normalized name-and-state match. Only unique matches receive a Census GEOID; collisions and no-matches remain explicit.

Unresolved is an upper bound on facility labels: conservative name matching can miss spelling variants. The files preserve the primary station, station coordinates, class, GEOID/LSAD when defensible, confidence, method, source URL, and vintage for every row.
Provenance and reuse
The underlying observations are NOAA public-domain data, and the identity file uses the U.S. Census Bureau Gazetteer. PlainClimate releases these derived tabular presentations and exact-match crosswalk under CC0 1.0. Each JSON file includes its source URL, data vintage, license, row count, and suggested citation; CSV files carry the same facts in comment rows.
These are long-run climate normals, not current conditions, forecasts, or future projections. See the methodology and the national statistics report before using the figures in consequential decisions.
Non-AdSense revenue readiness (not activated)
Productized today: CSV/JSON downloads above, Dataset schema on entity and statistics surfaces, and nofollow embed charts under /embed/ where published. License for derived tabular releases is CC0 1.0 with NOAA/Census provenance retained in each file. No paid API, pricing page, or commercial data contract is live.
YMYL-safe affiliate slot rules (written only; zero affiliate links exist): never adjacent to interpretive health/safety advice; only on registry/tool surfaces after operator activation; clearly labeled; density shared with Module 36 ad ceilings. Eligible page types if ever activated: /tools/*, /data/, and ranking hubs — not city comfort prose blocks.
Alternative-network eligibility (paperwork readiness only): Mediavine/Raptive-class publishers typically require sustained sessions and content policies PlainClimate does not yet meet; AdSense remains the only in-scope path until an operator decision. No alternative network code is installed.
